Unblock Tactics

Hi there

I have mentioned this before, but didn't give a solution. I recently completed 10,000 tactics on Lichess and have now had the tactics trainer blocked. This is really hard to bear for me, as i used the tactics trainer as a way to warm up before playing. I now have to go to a separate site in order to do this warm up, which kind of sucks.

Is there any plan to generate some more tactics?

If not, would it be possible to perhaps reset my tactics rating so this feature becomes available again? I don't really see why it has to be blocked once 10,000 have been completed. Firstly, there are far more than 10,000 tactics on the server. Secondly, who cares if you do a tactic more than once? It is not like anyone is going to memorise all of them! And even if they did, so what? They get an artificially high tactics rating... big deal. Technically someone could also use an engine to solve these puzzles, i doubt anyone would really care less if they did either.

Anyway, i hope someone could raise this in the appropriate place. 10,000 tactics is really nothing (if you intend to practise regularly). I did most of mine in front of the TV with only half an eye on what i'm doing. It really sucks to have this feature blocked. :(
@Clarkey has mentioned that the tactic trainer is being redone, I imagine they might deal with this issue.
Solving tactics I found that puzzles have a floating ranking. That is, if you successfully solve the task, the rating task is minus points (-). Thus, the administration of Lichess trying to protect the goals from the collapse of support from one player. I see only one way is to have another login for decision tactics. For a year you will have enough new account. And in a year will get a new login. That as an option. IMHO.
I want to ask. You managed to increase the ranking in solving tactics? For example, when you've decided the first 1000 thousands of brainteasers, what was your rating in tactics?
We're currently piloting the new puzzles that have been made (there's now 23k new puzzles in the database and growing fast).

We've recently completed some back-end improvements to allow you to play beyond the 10k limit, but all the changes aren't ready just yet as we're currently working on a new interface for the tactics trainer. When that's done, all the changes will be released, hopefully won't be too much longer.
@Clarkey : That's great news! I think it will take me a few years to get through 23k! It's great to hear something is in the pipeline. :)

@voronn09 : "I want to ask. You managed to increase the ranking in solving tactics? For example, when you've decided the first 1000 thousands of brainteasers, what was your rating in tactics?"

My Tactics rating has been somewhat volatile as I don't always approach them with the same commitment. Sometimes I will set myself a challenge, say, do 100 puzzles and try and get the highest score I can. Other times i might be on the train and just want to kill some time with a couple of problems.

In answer to your question of rating. My rating at the beginning of using Lichess was probably 18-2000. When the tactics were first included a LOT of the answers were incorrect, which affected my rating quite a lot. I think this was due to the engine having a very short search depth. I found then (and still now on occasion) that a puzzle was selected from a tactic that the engine has found which is some moves away from the position being analysed. Often, the engine thinks it has found a decisive tactic, but the refutation to the idea is just over the 'horizon'. Concequently, should you be able to see this refutation, you spend ages trying to find some other line that does not exist (if that makes sense the way i have written it..)

This has improved a lot recently, perhaps because the site engine is given a slightly longer time (3 seconds? I seem to remember this being mentioned at some point).

Anyway, have I seen improvement? Definitely! My actual chess rating has improved by 100 points or so in the last couple of years. My tactics rating on this site has been over 2200 before, which is why it is slightly annoying to have the tactics blocked on my account when my tactics rating is probably as low as it has ever been! lol :D
I'm 25 hours decided tactics on Likes their second login. It took 33 days. Decided 900 positions. Then played in the Monthly blitz tournament, Lichess. There are no results. All the same. It may need more time?
