Monthly Classical Winners

Your words:

"Allowing this is SO far against the rules of chess or any sporting event - absolutely not acceptable to have players consult during the game."

Yes, of course - acceptable when playing rated on chess24 - but in a "serious" tournament it is not. The tournament is exactly as serious as playing rated - it counts for nothing. Players do not know 100% that Jan is playing as a team, as he often gets challenged by players whenever he is online. They do not know that he is playing as a team.

To me it makes 0% difference, as the importance of lichess tournaments is vastly overstated and compared to the actions of accusing a player like Amadan publicly as a cheater, this is nothing serious.

I think for educational and entertainment value, teams pose a great value and I do not mind chess24 or lichess allowing this.

I have posted a few suggestions around this, but I would also be cool with lichess and other chess sites to continue to not act on this, as long as it is only streamers and it does not occure in priced tournaments.
#73 Amadan (At the time - a completely anonymous account to me at least - now I know of him more and think he is a cool guy overall) insulted me prior to the incident. It happened in a tournament forum prior to the incident for the public record with comments like " A broken clock is right twice a day". Maybe ask him about that. Also find out about the convicted accounts around the hyperbullet tournaments around that time. I apologised at the time for my heat of the moment comments, and that was some time back now. Essentially i presumed it was yet another kiddie running engine scripts in the hyperbullet - and there were a number of closed accounts around that time for even hyperbullet. Are you really saying I shouldn't have presented the issue because of this?! Seriously put aside for a moment your hate of me. It was not just me they played as a team consultation account. Maybe even if you seem to hate me - put that aside and try and get some empathy for other people in the tournament.

You mention in post #70 about Chess24 - there is a pending challenges system - challenges are built up - so they know totally in advance they are playing the featured streamers. You have basically publicly insulted me and Chessexplained as hypocrites - are you going to apologise over this?!

Here is a tip - try and get the first clue of context of what you judge people on. Seriously please try.
BTW by the very fact it was a 5 hour classical tournament, it was a serious time and energy investment. Maybe not to (say a) little kid with a tonne of energy - but maybe to other people it was a time and energy investment. Maybe try and get a little empathy for that as well before you start degenerating all lichess tournaments publically as well?!

BTW you have played here all of 6 hours - well done on your vast commitment to the site - sorry I took your comments seriously. How many accounts have you gone through on lichess so far this year?! Basically anyone that played in the 5 hour tournament on friday spent 5/6ths of the time you have been on the site so far - and you show so little empathy for them here.

I also sincerely doubt you will make any comments about the unfairness to the 1400+ member Monthly classical tournament or to the false accusations made against me and Chessexplained. To do so requires some emotional empathy and human connection - of which I doubt you have any. Instead the majority of your future replies will undoubtedly skip these things and instead basically be further attacks on me, so please excuse if this is my last post to you.
Difficult topic. I just watched 5 minutes of the chessjuice stream and I think Tal and Asaf provide great entertainment - much better than Tal alone. For me it would be great to play them and take a look at their comments afterwards.
On the other hand : I'm not competing for the title because I'm too weak and I'm not willing to put the five hours in (so basically bad and lazy ;-) ).
However : I completely understand the anger of KC or CE. It does not not matter that there are no prices. The tournament is important for the players, because they are competing hard - from that comes the value.
Sadly I don't see a solution. If they play out of competition, the other top players could simply resign against them and play another game instead. This would ruin the tournament as well.

Interesting to see how the ratings of the
'Monthly Classical Winners'
gradually increased over the years! :)
Your post definitely deserves all the attention it has been getting.
So let's wrap up the topic with a friendly "team consultation show match"? Team KC vs Team Tal?
Very good solution to the "problem" thibault. I think that this lets streamers just open their own tournament and it does not affect the site.

Regarding Kingcrusher - I do not hate you - I think the way you have acted towards Amadan shows that you have a bad temper. A player saying: "A broken clock is right twice a day" justifies you to call him a cheater publicly without first checking with the online admins first if there is strong evidence that he indeed does cheat? I personally think you are a very bad loser in the way you acted in this instance and unsubscribed your channel because of this. I expect strong players to act responsibly and your comments afterwards were the same as you act now. You do not try to argue, but to attack players. You attacked Amadan because he "publicly" complained about you calling him a cheater unjustified, whereas you maintained you were calling him a cheater on your "private" stream. It is clear that you maintain different standards for your own behaviour and the behaviour of others. I rate the team play in the tournament as way less of an issue compared to calling out a player publicly as a cheater.

"BTW you have played here all of 6 hours - well done on your vast commitment to the site - sorry I took your comments seriously. How many accounts have you gone through on lichess so far this year?!"

Just shows your lack of character. Accusing a player that he has not played a ton on this site. I have played on a different site before and just recently joined lichess. What is wrong about that? What does that take away from me being able to have an opinion about this topic or your actions? You seem to like to attack people. A typical online bully.
@thibault I've got nothing but gratitude for you. It must very very hard, but know that those who cannot conduct themselves appropriately and those who simply lash out because of their own anger have no weight, no grounds and no basis to judge you. You are an amazing person, who has sacrificed more for others on this site than we will ever know. I wish there was something that I could say to alleviate the pain that this has caused you.
excellent response thibault! I think you found a great solution, please dont mind all the harsh comments on reddit and this forum, you have created one of the best chess sites in the internet and kept it free just for the people and I agree fully with #81, sorry for all the pain some users have caused you and I cant thank you enough for creating this awesome chess community!
